OLG CHARITABLE GAMING CENTRE
The funds we have received from volunteering at the Kennedy Road Gaming Centre recently allowed us to give a substantial donation to the North York Harvest Foodbank, which suffered the significant loss of a large freezer room and huge amounts of frozen food after flooding in early July. (See photos on the Latest News page.)
We have also recently been able to purchase new grey t-shirts and jackets with the Toronto Accolades logo on them, plus new sheet music and recordings to enhance our performance repertoire, thanks to Kennedy Road Charitable Gaming Association.
Local charitable gaming centres have raised over $90 million for charities and non-profit groups over the past year alone. If you belong to a charitable or non-profit organization looking for new fundraising opportunities, take a look at this link and consider volunteering at one of Ontario's Charitable Gaming Centres for a few hours a month in return for a share of their proceeds. https://www.globalheroes.com/successful-fundraising-with.../

Text Lisa Taylor: 647-886-1766,
We are inviting everyone to come to our Open House at Earl Bales Community Centre on Thursday, September 5. Join Toronto Accolades members for the evening and learn about singing in a cappella four part harmony. If you find this is something that appeals to you, stay on for a six-week free trial with the idea of joining the chorus. Or just come out for the evening and have some fun with a friendly, fun group of women who love to sing.
AREA FIVE CONTEST AND CONVENTION, 2024
It was an exciting day for the Accolades at this year's Area 5 Contest. The chorus improved its score over last year by 46 points to win the Most Improved Chorus Award with its "Sunshine" song package. And, although we didn't qualify for Internationals this year, we received the Audrey Borsos Memorial Award for the chorus with the highest non-qualifying score.
In the evening, we changed from rays of sunshine to puppy dogs, as we got into costume to represent our movie theme of "101 Dalmations" at dinner and Moonglow. The audience enjoyed our rendition of "Cruella de Vil", watching us change from scared puppies to vengeful ones, capturing our director, Alana/Cruella, at the end of the song. At the end of the evening, we even won a couple of goodie baskets for our awesome table centrepieces, put together by Vimi.
