Despite COVID-19, members of the Toronto Accolades continue to meet weekly for a ZOOM rehearsal. Although we sing four part harmony a cappella when we perform, during our rehearsals we use a keyboard to help us out with some of the trickier parts of the songs we are working on.
Several months ago, our elderly keyboard gave up the ghost. We are thrilled that, with the help of funds we received from Rama Gaming House--Toronto East, we have been able to purchase a new keyboard and stand. And, anticipating a time in the not too distant future when we will once again be bringing our keyboard to rehearsals at the community centre, we also purchased a sturdy case to protect our new investment.

AREA 5 OPEN HOUSE
Area 5 held a virtual Open House on Saturday, May 29, the weekend when we would normally have been coming together for our Area Contest and Convention. The Open House drew an impressive 193 participants. Members were able to reconnect and to sing together, and several choruses were able to showcase virtual videos they created during the pandemic. Thanks to all of the Area 5 Leadership who helped put this evening together. We look forward to getting together in person next year!
The Toronto Accolades installed their new Board and recognized their award winners at a virtual Installation Ceremony on Thursday, May 6. It was an evening to celebrate. Nine of our members now sit on the Board, a huge show of commitment and enthusiasm for a relatively small chorus. A number of year pins were awarded, recognizing members who have been with the organization as much as 25, 30 and even 45 years! And the Accolade of the Year Award was presented to the entire team of 8 who took over organizing and leading rehearsals while we were between directors.
