Who are the Toronto Accolades?

Founded in 1968, Toronto Accolades is an all-female a cappella choral group singing four-part harmony in the barbershop style. We are members of Harmony, Inc., an international organization promoting friendship and personal growth through music and music education. Our repertoire includes a variety of music, both old and new, fast and slow. We put on shows, compete at Harmony, Inc. annual contests, and perform within the community. Please browse through our website to find out more about us.

Despite COVID-19, members of the Toronto Accolades continue to meet weekly for a ZOOM rehearsal.  Although we sing four part harmony a cappella when we perform, during our rehearsals we use a keyboard to help us out with some of the trickier parts of the songs we are working on.

Several months ago, our elderly keyboard gave up the ghost.  We are thrilled that, with the help of funds we received from Rama Gaming House--Toronto East, we have been able to purchase a new keyboard and stand.  And, anticipating a time in the not too distant future when we will once again be bringing our keyboard to rehearsals at the community centre, we also purchased a sturdy case to protect our new investment.

Many thanks to Rama Gaming House--Toronto East from the Toronto Accolades.

We look forward to the time when visitors can come and experience the joy of a cappella singing with the Toronto Accolades once again.

While unable to sing together as yet, the Accolades produced a virtual video to share with friends and the community at large.  We have always believed that "music speaks louder than words", especially in times of hardship or isolation, so the song we chose seemed appropriate.  Look for the Toronto Accolades singing "Music Speaks Louder Than Words" on YouTube, or watch the video on our Facebook page, on the right hand side of some of the pages on this website.  Thanks to Kennedy Road Rama Gaming House for the new costumes we were able to purchase with their support and wear for the first time in this video.

Area 5 held a virtual Open House on Saturday, May 29, the weekend when we would normally have been coming together for our Area Contest and Convention.  The Open House drew an impressive 193 participants.  Members were able to reconnect and to sing together, and several choruses were able to showcase virtual videos they created during the pandemic.  Thanks to all of the Area 5 Leadership who helped put this evening together.  We look forward to getting together in person next year!
